Here are few words and phrases that are different...
"Cheers"- thank you
"I rate her/him"- I think they are great.
"lie in"- sleep in
"unlucky"- too bad
"well played"- good job (in sports)
"quid"- pound (like we would say "buck" for a dollar)
"hooter"- nose
"dodgy"- (used the same as the slang word "shady")
"caravan"- mini van
"tea"- dinner
"ice lolly"- Popsicle
"bogie"- booger :(
That is all I can think of right now.
Christmas fun...

Cheers for those new words. I rate you. It's unlucky, I would give a few quid to lie in on my birthday, because my hooter has lots of pesky bogies. I may need an Ice lolly and a quick trip in the caravan to the doctor. Then I will watch the Cowboys and say, "Well Played." While I sit down to tea in my dodgy little house. YES! ~stu
One of my recent favorites up here has been, "That's me, finishing my tea...(or) leaving my house...(or any number of actions)." Do you ever hear that? It may just be a Scottish phrase. But it cracks me up- everyone seems to use it so naturally, instead of simply saying "I am finished" or "I am leaving my house". : ) Glad you are having fun with these new terms, too.
Hey Thara and Barb! I am enjoying reading about your adventures. I am taking the laptop to the shop so everyone else will be able to enjoy them as well. I hope you both had great birthdays. We will miss you at Thanksgiving. We all love you both and are keeping you in our prayers. Be careful over there across the pond, Aunt Kim
